EVERGOODS Transit Duffel 35L Review

Typically, when you think of a duffle bag, you probably think of a gym bag or something similar. However, that isn’t always the case, and the EVERGOODS Transit Duffel 35L is a prime example. With a sleek design and intuitive features, this is well worth a look for your next business trip or day bag. Let’s dive in!

External Components

The primary pack material we’re working with here is 840D ballistic nylon. It comes in black and only black, which we’re used to seeing from EVERGOODS. Their logo is on the bottom right of the duffle, and it’s a hook-and-loop fastener, so you can cover it with a patch if you want to. If not, it blends in reasonably well.

This pack utilizes YKK zippers, which are capable and easy to use. The pulls are simple and stay out of your way, which we dig. As far as materials and hardware go, this pack is top-notch.

The strap on this duffle secures with Duraflex buckles. Their attachment method isn’t noteworthy, but some unique things are happening here. The top of the pack tapers outward, like what you’d expect from a rolltop or an old-school dopp kit. When you use the strap, this gives you a longer length to work with. When you aren’t using the strap, fold the flap down, and there’s a female buckle on the side of the pack to attach it to. This keeps the buckle out of the way and gives the duffle a stylish look without any extra materials floating around.

We’ve got two top handles to work with, which are comfortable to hang onto and assist in opening the pack and grabbing gear. Pull them apart to open the pack, pull one side back to get your equipment, then bring them together to carry the duffle. It’s easy and comfortable, even if there isn’t much padding or aeration.

The bottom of the pack has a fold running down the middle, enabling it to collapse when it isn’t being used to save space. Maybe you’re trying to save room in your closet, shove it into another larger duffle, or find a spot for it in your car’s trunk for a road trip. Regardless of the reason, it’s an intuitive and helpful feature.

Fit Notes

The strap is lightweight and doesn’t have much coverage, especially for such a large pack. It doesn’t feature much padding either; however, we’ve found it remarkably comfortable for its size. It might dig in after a while on your shoulder, but you can always change sides or how you’re carrying it.

There are strap keepers to ensure everything stays organized, which is a small but mighty addition from EVERGOODS. Similar to their side-clip design, there isn’t a thread out of place on this duffle when it is in or out of use.

The back panel has some padding but isn’t as ample as we’d have liked. It’s on the same wall as the laptop compartment, so it’s firmer when there’s a computer stowed inside. It’s more comfortable when you don’t have a laptop inside; however, it’s still comfortable enough, especially for a bag of this size.

You can wear it flipped the other way, but the logo would be on the inside. If you didn’t opt to put a patch there, it isn’t a big deal because it blends in a fair amount anyways. It’s important not to overpack the quick-grab pocket on that side if you go for this method, or you’ll run into the same issue.

Inside The Duffle

The lining material inside the duffle is a 420D high-tenacity nylon. It’s gray, which is helpful for seeing your gear, so long as it isn’t the exact gray color. Sometimes, we feel that the currently popular orange interiors are a little too much. However, if that’s what you’re into, EVERGOODS has options with its other products.

The laptop compartment is on the back side of the pack and is only accessible from the exterior. There’s no organization inside, just one large pocket capable of holding up to a 16-inch MacBook Pro. It has a fair amount of padding, but we’d recommend using a thin protective case on longer trips that might have more turbulence.

On the opposite side, there’s another secondary compartment for quick-grab gear. It has four liner pockets: three larger ones for a phone, wallet, or similarly sized item and one smaller one. It has a red key leash, too, which makes finding it easier and offers the only pop of color on the pack. This area feels like something you’d see inside a travel backpack or daypack, which we dig.

The main compartment is where the real party is at. It’s less of a house party and more of a warehouse rave because it’s a big empty space waiting for you to fill it with goodies. The design feels like a vintage dopp kit or the bag a traveling doctor might have brought to your house when you were sick in the 1950s. It’s easy to transport but opens up wide for better access to your gear.

A gusseted pocket on both short ends of the interior is perfect for a water bottle. If you don’t like packing cubes, you can stow socks, underwear, or other small clothing here. There aren’t many places to segment gear inside the main compartment, so these areas aren’t a bad shout for the equipment you want to find quickly, like your travel rain jacket or tech pouch.

There’s a zippered compartment near the top of the laptop-compartment side of the duffle’s interior. This pocket isn’t very deep but has a long width, making it ideal for a passport, travel documents, and extra cash for safekeeping.

The rest of the space is yours to wrangle—there’s no additional segmentation. It’s a ton of space—this is most of the 35-liter capacity of the EVERGOODS Transit Duffel. It can be difficult to find gear quickly without packing cubes, a tech pouch, and other organizers. You’ll be able to fit more inside without organization tools, but finding your phone cable is like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Overall, we were far more into using this pack than we initially thought. It’s intuitive for a duffle and is an excellent option for work trips, the gym, everyday use, or a combination somewhere in between. In testing, we often had a camera cube, lunch, clothing, a tech pouch, shoes, toiletries, and work gear all loaded inside. It’s a fun pack to load, use, and take with you, regardless of the destination.
